Terms of use

These are the rules for using ZYDN, the app and this website. You agree to them when you sign in. Last updated 3 November 2026.

Who runs ZYDN

ZYDN is run by JOVER HOLDCO (Pty) Ltd in South Africa (registration number 2026/744292/07). In these terms, “ZYDN”, “we” and “us” mean JOVER HOLDCO (Pty) Ltd. Questions go to contact@zydn.app.

Who can use ZYDN

  • ZYDN is for people 18 and older. Don't use it if you're younger.
  • One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Venue accounts are for the venue's owners, managers and door staff. Signing a venue up means you're allowed to act for it.

What ZYDN shows you

  • Crowd levels are ZYDN's best reading of how full a venue is, and each one says how sure it is. An exact number appears only when it's the venue's door count. When ZYDN doesn't know, it says “No live data”.
  • Menus, prices, specials, opening hours and photos come from the venues. Check prices and details at the venue before you pay.
  • Don't rely on ZYDN for anything to do with safety, such as whether a venue is over its capacity or what to do in an emergency.
  • Drive-or-ride advice is a suggestion. Never drive after drinking.

Stories and what you post

Stories are shot in the ZYDN camera at the venue you're checked in at. You own what you post. By posting, you let ZYDN show it in the app (in the venue's story for 24 hours and on your profile for 30 days), check it, and draw ZYDN's looks and venue stamp over it. ZYDN won't use your story outside the app, such as in an advert, without asking you first.

ZYDN has zero tolerance for posts that break these rules. Don't post:

  • anyone's face clearly, unless they've agreed to be in it
  • anyone who looks under 18
  • toilets, changing areas, nudity or anything sexual
  • fights, injuries, weapons or anything illegal
  • hate, threats, bullying or harassment of anyone
  • anything that isn't from that venue tonight, isn't yours, or is spam

Stories go live straight away and the ZYDN team checks every one. A story that breaks the rules comes down, and stories reported by two people are hidden until the team has looked. Accounts that break the rules can be suspended or closed. You can report any story, message or profile, and block anyone, in the app.

Messages

  • A first message to someone is a request. Nothing more goes through until they accept.
  • Be respectful. No harassment, threats, unwanted sexual messages, scams or spam.
  • View-once photos and videos open once, for the person they were sent to. ZYDN blocks screenshots while they're open but can't stop someone photographing their screen with another phone, so only send what you're comfortable sending.

Story Credits

  • Story Credits are earned for stories and door counts once ZYDN has checked them, and spent on vouchers venues offer in the app.
  • Credits have no cash value. They can't be sold, swapped for money or moved to someone else.
  • Nothing earns credits for what you buy or drink.
  • ZYDN can take back credits earned by breaking these rules, such as with fake, copied or repeated posts.
  • If ZYDN changes how credits are earned or spent, the app says so before the change.

Offers and deals

  • An offer you make is between you and the venue. The venue decides whether to accept it.
  • You pay the agreed price at the venue. ZYDN takes no payments in the app. A receipt works once, only at its own venue, and the venue can refuse service as it normally would (for example to someone under 18 or already drunk).

Events

  • Events on ZYDN are for people 18 and older. Hosts are approved by the ZYDN team, and every event is checked before its invites go out.
  • The host runs their event and is responsible for it: the address, who comes, safety, and the law (including drinking, noise and the number of guests). ZYDN isn't the host and isn't at the event.
  • Guests ask to come and the host decides. Don't share an event's address with anyone else.
  • Report anything that worries you. ZYDN can take an event down at any time.

Venues

  • Keep your venue's details, menus, prices, specials and photos accurate, and post only photos you own or may use.
  • Count your door honestly. Floor area, capacity and location are set by the ZYDN team.
  • Every banner ad is checked by the ZYDN team before it runs. You pay only for the hours it was live, at the price shown when you booked. Alcohol banners and drink specials show only to people who passed the 18+ check and carry “Not for persons under 18”.
  • Invoices go out on the 1st of the month for the month before. Pay by bank transfer by the date on the invoice. If a banner didn't run when it should have, those hours aren't charged; billing mistakes are fixed with a corrected invoice. You can pause or cancel a banner at any time.
  • Founding venues keep what was agreed with them in writing.

Your account

  • You can delete your account at any time: in the app on the You tab, or at zydn.app/delete-account. It's deleted straight away, with your stories, photos, credits and messages.
  • ZYDN can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why unless the law or someone's safety stops us.

What ZYDN is responsible for

ZYDN works hard to keep the app accurate and running, but it's offered as it is. ZYDN isn't responsible for the venues, what happens at venues or events, or what other people post or send. As far as South African law allows, ZYDN isn't liable for losses that come from using it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law.
