Privacy, in plain words
This is how ZYDN is built to treat your information. It's a summary; the full privacy policy will be here before ZYDN is in the App Store and Google Play.
Your location
When you check in, your phone sends where you are so ZYDN can find the venue you're at. That's used in the moment and not stored. ZYDN keeps the venue and the time of your check-in, not your coordinates. Distances to venues are worked out on your phone.
Faces
ZYDN doesn't use facial recognition on crowds, stories or venues. Door counts count people coming in and going out, not who they are. Every story is checked by the ZYDN team before it goes live, and a story that shows someone's face clearly is turned down. The only face check in ZYDN is your own verification selfie, if you choose to get verified: a verification company compares it once with your photo and ID, with your consent, and ZYDN keeps only the result.
House parties and verification
- Party invites use a rough area, a square about 5 km across, worked out on your phone. Your location isn't sent or stored, and turning invites off clears the area.
- For guest groups, ZYDN keeps your gender as you choose it and your birth year, never your full date of birth.
- A party's address is shown only to approved guests from 3 hours before, and is deleted a week after the party.
- Verification keeps the result, your verified first name, surname initial and birth year. Never your selfie, the photo of your ID or your ID number.
Profiles and messages
- Profile photos and the Instagram, TikTok or Facebook usernames you add are public on your profile. ZYDN never signs in to those apps for you.
- Messages are seen only by the people in the chat. When you message a venue, its owner and managers read it; door staff don't. Photos in chats are private to the chat.
- The ZYDN team reads a chat only when someone in it reports a message, and then only the last 30 messages. Unsending a message clears what it said.
What venues see
Venues see totals: their crowd level, how many came in, how many saw their banner. They never see a list of guests or what an individual guest reported. The only exception is a guest who chooses to message them.
Your account and stories
- Your email signs you in. There are no passwords.
- Your name and photo show only if you add them, next to the stories you post.
- Stories you post are public once approved, to everyone using ZYDN.
- The 18+ check keeps only whether you passed, never your date of birth.
- Crowd alerts use which venues you've opened recently. That's kept only while your alerts are on, and for a day at most. Where people go next is only ever shown as a count, and only when five or more people made the same move.
The launch list
If you leave your email on this website, ZYDN keeps it with your city and whether you run a venue, and uses it for one thing: telling you when ZYDN is out where you are. To be taken off, email contact@zydn.app.
Venues signing up
When a venue signs up, ZYDN keeps the contact details, the venue's details and any licence or billing details it gives, to check the venue and to invoice banner ads. Certificates can be opened only by the person who uploaded them and the ZYDN team. Put your venue on ZYDN
Payments
ZYDN doesn't take card payments in the app. Venues pay their invoices by bank transfer.
